LUMINA LIGHT FESTIVAL

LUMINA Light Festival transforms Cascais Town into an open-air gallery of light and creativity.

For three nights, the streets, gardens, and iconic landmarks of Cascais come alive with immersive installations, interactive artworks, video mapping, and live performances. Free and open to all, LUMINA invites families, locals, and visitors to explore a shared experience of imagination, beauty, and wonder.

Created, curated and produced by OCUBO, the festival celebrates art, culture and community. With a strong focus on inclusivity and accessibility, LUMINA breaks social and cultural barriers, making contemporary art available to everyone. It also reinforces Cascais’ cultural identity, positioning the town as a leading destination for creative tourism and artistic innovation.

Across eight editions, LUMINA has welcomed over 2.3 million visitors, presenting more than 177 light artworks, developed by 148 artists from over 25 countries.

Audiences have experienced emotional, sensory and participatory moments, from contemplative pieces and interactive environments to large-scale video mappings and live performances.

Recognised internationally, LUMINA was named by The Guardian as one of the Top 10 Light Festivals in Europe, awarded Best Cultural Event in 2014, selected for the Creative Europe Programme, and received the EFFE Label - Remarkable Festival from the European Festivals Association.
